Dr. Dauda Abubaker

Dr. Dauda Abubaker holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, specializing in Islam in West Africa. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Jos in Nigeria. With a strong background in research, Dr. Abubakar currently focuses on the practice of Zakat in Nigeria. His work includes multiple published articles in journals and contributions to books on Zakat and Muslim-Christian relations in Nigeria. In 2020, he published a book titled "They love us because we give them Zakat: the distribution of wealth and the making of social relations in northern Nigeria" through Brill. Presently, Dr. Abubakar is also involved in a project on the practice of Zakat in the contemporary world as part of the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy.
